New London Base doubles in size after two months
After two years of outstanding results, we opened a new office in central London in May this year. The first office outside the Bristol headquarters, it is situated at 33 Glasshouse Street, Picadilly, in the centre of the commercial sector, next to the West End. A base in London has meant our consultants are closer to our clients and candidates in the capital so providing a superior service and maximising opportunties.
The new office has proved so successful that after only eight weeks of trading, it has become apparent that it fast becoming too small. Between May and July our London business grew by a third, surpassing all expectations. We are now moving to an office twice the current size at the beginning of August. We have hired four new members of staff already and are recuiritng for four more staff by the end of October.
Patrick Collins, Head of the London office, is excited about the expansion. He says, "I am enjoying the challenge of setting up Timothy James Consulting's new London base and it is extremely rewarding to see such tangible results after only two months. Being in the heart of the City means we are able to provide a more distinctive service and we are looking forward to breaking the records set by our Bristol office!"
Timothy James Consulting Defends the Corner for Agencies
Timothy James Consulting has been engaging with contractors who are sceptical about working with agencies. Andrew Backhouse, National Contracts Manager at Timothy James Consulting, gave a specialised presentation at a members evening hosted by Professional Contractors Group (PCG), the professional organisation for the freelance community. The event was specifically aimed at "Exploiting the Agency Model" and was held in the luxurious surroundings of the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Bristol on Monday, 28th June.
Andrew advised those present on how to approach and manage an agency, its various benefits and frustrations, and how to make their agency work best for them. He also gave instructive tips on what agencies look for in contractors.
The presentation entitled, "How to Work Best with your Agency", was extremely well received by its audience. Colin Butcher, PCG Member and Managing Director of XDelta Ltd said that Andrew's contribution, "was very informative and a lot of fun too. I was really pleased by the level of participation and by the feedback we got from those who came along. I think we can count it as a big success!"
The team at Timothy James Consulting are very pleased with this enthusiastic response from PCG members and are looking forward to furthering their relationships with them in the near future. Hopefully this event will prove one step towards improving the connection between freelancers and agencies in the long term.

Movember
Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer.
The chaps of Timothy James Consulting were keen to do their bit, eagerly led by Managing Director Peter Bennett, who despite his wife initial wishes grew a real monster. Peter's wife at the end had been converted to the power of the Mo and shed a small tear as it was shaved away and now is counting down the days until Movember 2010.
Timothy James chaps had a mixed level of success, there are definitely a number of different camps:
Those Who Can
Those Who Think They Can
Those Who Can Only Dream
I am delighted to report that as a team we raised over £700 this year with money still coming in. We all had good fun either growing or watching the Mo’s grow, some more than others but we will all be back next year growing them bigger and better. Please see a number of pictures – you decide which camp they fit in.
If you wish to show your support to this most fantatic of causes the Timothy James Charity Link is still open to donations: http://uk.movember.com/auth/login (Click on Donate and search for us my team name Magnum TJC.
Many thanks to those who sponsored us all – every penny is appreciated.
Timothy James Consulting – Growing The Mo for Prostate Cancer.
To date, Movember has raised over £30 million globally for the fight against prostate cancer and depression in men. And, more importantly, as a direct result, male awareness of health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread health messages directly to millions of Mo Bros & Sistas around the world.
Going forward, Movember will continue to work towards helping to change established habits and attitudes and make men aware of the risks they face, thereby increasing early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.
Movember has continued to grow each year, both in terms of participation numbers and funds raised. In its first year, 30 Mo Bros took part in Movember and last year, across the globe more than 173,000 Mo Bro & Sistas got on board, raising more than £14 million across the Movember’s men’s health partners globally. This year in the UK alone over £4 million was raised.
Mo Bros, supported by their Mo Sistas, start Movember (November 1st) clean shaven and then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache. During Movember, each Mo Bro effectively becomes a walking billboard for men’s health and, via their Mo, raises essential funds and awareness for Movember’s men’s health partner – The Prostate Cancer Charity.
